Wired Right started from a simple frustration: most vehicle electrical problems are not difficult, they are just never properly measured. A code gets read, a part gets fitted, the light comes back, and the customer pays twice for the same fault.
The workshop at Albion Park Rail was set up to do the opposite. Vehicles go on the hoist, circuits get tested under load, and the fault is confirmed before a single part is ordered. It takes longer on the day and it is considerably cheaper over the life of the vehicle.
The car audio side came from the same place. An amplifier that cuts out, a head unit that resets on start-up, a subwoofer that clips at half volume, every one of those is an electrical fault wearing an audio costume. Doing both trades under one roof means the diagnosis is not passed back and forth between two businesses.
Today the work runs from a battery and alternator replacement on a Warilla commuter to a full lithium touring fitout heading up the coast, a classic rewire on a car that has not run since the nineties, or a fleet of service bodies standardised on the same cameras, UHF and tracking.
Measure, then repair
Every job starts with numbers: resting voltage, cranking voltage, charging voltage, and voltage drop across the circuit in question. Parts are only replaced once the measurement says they are the fault.
Wire it like it has to last
Crimped and soldered terminations, adhesive-lined heatshrink, correct cable gauge for the run, fusing at the source and factory-style routing. No scotch-locks, no twisted joints under tape.
Leave documentation behind
Custom work leaves with a wiring diagram and labelled circuits. Repairs leave with the before-and-after measurements on the job card. The next person who opens the bonnet should be able to read the system.
Say what the standard is
Caravan 12 volt work to AS/NZS 3001.2, forward-facing lamps to Transport for NSW VSI-64, immobilisers to AS/NZS 4601 specification. If a rule applies to your job, you will be told which one and why.
