What should be considered before adding accessories to a vehicle’s electrical system?
Each accessory adds current draw, so the supply needs to suit both the equipment and the vehicle. Depending on the equipment, that may be a dedicated fused feed, a switched or ignition-sensed feed, or a connection point the vehicle manufacturer supports. UHF radios, inverters, USB outlets, brake controllers and switch panels each need a supply that suits the equipment and the vehicle. How a circuit is fed, fused and earthed depends on the current draw, the length of the cable run and how the vehicle’s own electrical system and electronics behave.
We plan the circuit for the equipment you are fitting, run cable sized for the load and the distance, fuse it to suit, and mount the hardware where it is protected from heat, water and vibration as far as the vehicle allows. Where several accessories are planned, a fused distribution point can make later additions simpler. Compatibility depends on the vehicle, existing equipment and products selected, and we will confirm the proposed installation scope before work is authorised.

Electric brake controllers
Controllers installed and set up following the manufacturer’s instructions. Adjustment with the trailer connected can be arranged where the trailer is available.
Towbar, trailer & Anderson plug wiring
7-pin flat, 7-pin round and 12-pin flat sockets wired to the relevant pinout and checked with a trailer tester. Anderson and charge feeds run in cable sized for the distance and current, with fusing to suit the circuit.
Horn & air horn upgrades
Aftermarket and air horns wired through a relay and fuse to suit their current draw.
Auxiliary switch panels
Labelled switch panels with individual circuit protection, wired through relays where the load requires it.

Do I need a licence to use a UHF CB radio in Australia?
No individual licence is needed. UHF CB radios in Australia operate under an ACMA class licence, so a compliant radio can be used without applying for your own licence.
Where should a UHF antenna be mounted?
Height and a good metal ground plane generally help, but the best position depends on the vehicle, the antenna type and how you use the radio. We talk through the options with you before anything is drilled or mounted.
Can I run a fridge or power tools from an inverter?
Possibly, depending on the equipment and the inverter. Some motors and electronic devices need a pure sine inverter, so suitability is checked against what you want to run. The 12V cable and fuse also need to suit the inverter’s input current, which is far higher in amps than its 240V output. Wired Right does the 12V supply side. Any 240V mains wiring, power points or inverter-output connections are handled through a licensed electrician.
Can an accessory be connected to an existing wire?
Sometimes, depending on the accessory and the vehicle. Some vehicles have manufacturer-supported accessory feeds or connection points. On others, factory circuits are monitored by the vehicle’s electronics, and adding load to them can cause blown fuses or warning lights. We check the vehicle and the equipment and choose a connection method that suits both.
Can you wire a towbar to a car that never had one?
Yes, where the vehicle and towbar allow. The wiring method depends on the vehicle: some use a vehicle-specific harness or module, others need a relayed connection. The socket is checked with a trailer tester before handover.
